Saabs test laboratory now established in new premises.

During the past year, the test and development department at Saab-T has been preparing to move into new offices and workshop space. Their current location has been extended by 240 m2 which, when completed, will provide much needed space for new engine test rooms and rig-test laboratories.

High performance Saab Sport, new exterior colours, Monte Carlo rally winning Saab, and Saab prototype caravan – presented at the Stockholm Motor Show

At this year’s Stockholm’s motor show Saab presented its new Saab Sport performance car together with new exterior colours for the Saab 96 and Saab 95 series. Also on display was a unique prototype of the versatile SAABO–Camper caravan.

Saab Sport – exclusive high-speed car with a responsive, well-mannered engine

The new Saab Sport replaces the current Granturisimo model Saab GT 750 and has an 841 cm3 three-cylinder, two-stroke engine with an output of just over 52 hp DIN.

Saab present a Caravan / Camper made in plastic

At the motor show in Stockholm a prototype of the Saab Caravan was also on display. The Caravan manufactured in composite material is light enough to be towed without any speed restrictions with a Saab, VW, Volvo and vehicles in similar service weight classes.

New machinery has been installed at Saab-G in Gothenburg where cylinder-blocks for Saabs three cylinder, two-stroke engines are manufactured –The multi-task machinery has the ability to perform twenty-five different machining operations.

The first American adventure: The 1956 Great American Mountain Rally

Saab entered the US market with a presentation In New York of the then new Saab 93 and the Sonett 1, a car originally intended for competition use in 1956. The prepare for and support the launch into a new and vast market, though at the outset concentrated at the East Coast/New England area, Saab entered a team of three cars in the Great American Mountain Rallye in New England.
